Grading, Gymnastics and Auditions

I know it's been a while...in fact such a while that I can't even remember things that have happened. I will try and piece things together as I go.

As you know Madi is now doing gymnastics and she managed to grade a month or so ago to level 2. They do it all backwards over here. When I was doing it we started at Level 10 and moved up to Level 1 then to the Elite level. Here they start on Level 1 and go the other way. Anyway, Madi completed all her routines on bar, beam, vault and floor to an acceptable standard and moved up a level. A few weeks ago she competed in her first club competition. She was a bit nervous but managed to do quite well.

Last Saturday Jessica and I graded to Shodan (1st Dan) black belt. It was a tough 3 hour grading but we managed to still be standing at the end. Now we have pretty black belts with kanji (japanese writing) thats says our club name on one end our our name on the other. This was always my goal when I started karate so I was especially pleased to receive my certificate. The photo is of Jess and I with our Senior Instructor Andrew on the left and our Zone Director Sensei Nabil on our right.

Now I guess I have to mention little Miss Ashlee as well although she hasn't done much except perfecting being a whinging teenager before she actually turns 13! She is now talking about playing netball for a local club which is great but deep down I still think she really want to do some acting. At the moment she is in the process of memorising a small script so we can video her performing it and then send it to some people who are looking for someone to have a 3 month part in Neighbours. I have told her it's up to her to actually get herself organised and i will video her and send it in. Will keep you informed of how it turns out.
