Swimming,Speeches, Vodka and Motorcross...

The week started with Ashlee and Jessica both competing in their school swimming carnival. With swimming not being their 'favourite' competitive sport they both entered with the aim of getting enough points so their house won...which it did.
All in all a fun day of swimming and screaming....can you imagine...1200 teenagers all screaming their heads off...makes you glad you weren't there doesn't it.

Madison has spent the week deciding wether or not she wanted to put her nomination in at school for House Captain. She is in Year Six this year and she really wants to do it...no hang on,...now she doesn't...wait, Yes she does...no...so you can see how the discussions have gone. Its the prospect of standing infront of all the other
students and having to make a speech that is freaking her out. By Sunday we had convinced her to give it a go and with Ashlee being an ex-school captain and Jess an ex-vice school captain she will undoubtly have the winning speech. Stay tuned as the vote happens this Friday.

Jess spent all day Saturday cheering her schools football team on at a carnival they had down the road. Despite the frantic yelling from the sidelines, they lost the first 2 games and won the last. Not good enough to make the finals. Jess was resembling a beetroot at the end of the day even though she assures me she put sunscreen on (yeah right). The hard time she got from her fellow State Team members the following night should convince her to not to let that happen again.

Saturday night was the first of 'Slava's Official Vodka Parties'. This is planned to be an annual event and the first went off with a bang...or was that the slam of the shot glass as the vodka shots were quickly consumed. Dancing followed with the Cardio Karate cd's being dragged out and Ben and I scratching our heads as we tried to remember the routines. The Macarena and Kung Fu fighting turned out to be favourites with Slava and Craig doing a bit of Russian dancing as well. We were also treated to Slava's cooking...Traditional Russian Goulash. I'm sure the food had nothing to do with the throwing up that came later on by one of the more 'inebriated' guests.

Round Three of the motorcross was on Sunday at the same place as the previous rounds. You will have to read all about it on Brian's blog www.brianandtheboys.blogspot.com to get all the blow by blow actgion. All in all it was an eventful day with Brian getting some great results.

State Training Sunday night found us working out what kata we would be performing in the 1st NAS (National All Styles) round on the 12th of March at Cararra on the Gold Coast. Jess is sticking with Kunkudai which she performs really well and I am still doing Sepai, practising Kunkudai with the hope that in a few months I will feel comfortable performing it. Also this year I am going to give Continuous Sparring a go. Not sure what I was thinking as it is a very physical;y draining event but will build my fitness. Jess competes in it so she might be able to give me a few tips. :)
